Discuss how the film viewing experiences has changed

Discuss how the film viewing experiences has changed with the reference to Warner Bros and 'The Dark Knight Rises' what may the future hold?

Over the latest couple of decades the film and television industry has really taken of taken off this is due to many reasons such the quality has increased in filming and editing, current technology can allow easier and more effective editing and one of the main reasons that is the publicity involved if you create one good film you are looking to ever millions, take The Dark Knight Rises for example this one movie earned $224.8 million in its first seven days. This case studies shows how much a movie can earn but there are three limiting factors that can be make or break for the film.

Obviously one of the main factors is how good the film is. The dark knight rises was not the best film nor it was not the worst it was riddled with plot hole throughout such as When Batman and Bane are punching each other, they aren't really hitting each other.  it just makes the movie like weak and fake
but due to the high intense action and the amazing sound track we just ignored it this doesn't work with all films though.

Without a doubt the advertising is key and I'm not talking about word of mouth I'm talking about huge large scale campaigns, again like dark knight rises yet again they got this spot on.Warner brothers campaign range from numerous different platforms one of the most noticeable was the viral one, in 2007 Warner Bro set up a viral marketing campaign by setting up a fake newspaper named “The Gotham Times”. An interactive document online made to look real –however in Chicago they actually gave out hard copies of this newspaper –helping to promote the film. This campaign used the films tagline “why so serious? “The site aimed to interest fans by having them earn what they want to see. – Where emails sent by fans slowly removed pixels, revealing the first official image of the joker. This caught the media's attention making them talking about it thus spreading the release of the film even more.

The viewing of films have changed immensely over the last few years mainly due to the rising of the internet, one of the main cause of the decline of people going to the cinema,There are other reasons for the decline in cinema viewings such as the price to watch a film it costs £15 this is not too expensive but as you add food and drink it goes above £25 this is expensive and it deterers young people from going cinema so as you can see the inflation is a big cause of the viewing of films to decline.

I touched upon the internet being a cause of the decline but to be more precise piracy is a huge problem all it takes is for one person to recorded the film on a camera or even a phone and with in 24 hours it could be download up to a hundred times this dosen't seem a lot but it adds up as time passes this allows many people to watch the film for free which cuts the films profit by up to 10% again this seems like a minuscule amount but when the film is going to earn up to £10 million 10% is a lot of money.

There are also more legal terms that allow films to be viewed on the internet such as internet streaming one of the best examples is netflixs this allows you to watch unlimited films and television shows for a payment of £6.99 a month this is seen as cheap because there are no limits on how much you can watch.

In conclusion I believe that going to the cinema will continue to decline and become a rare social event and that the majority of people will watch films and television and streaming sites on the phone, tablets,pc and TVs.
